Kids who read Young Adult or YA books can be anywhere from 10 to adult. That being said, there are obviously some books that are not for younger kids. It will be your job as the teacher to find the right book to put into students' hands at the right times. One of the only ways to be able to do this effectively is that YOU have to read these books, too. I actually enjoy reading YA fiction because it is usually an easy read and I can read it fairly fast. Also, I usually get very attached to the characters.
